What is Life Purpose?
People often wonder what their life’s purpose is, as though it is one single lofty career goal that they should aspire to. Your purpose actually has many components to it, and it is already encoded in your DNA. Your purpose encompasses all the ways in which you contribute to humanity as well as your own personal growth. Living your purpose is your birthright and can unfold easily if you allow it. The challenge is that we’re often influenced by the things we’ve been told we should be doing and forget to look within ourselves for what we want to be doing.
Your Purpose is Tied to your Desires, Hopes, and Dreams
Believe it or not, what you most desire in life is the strongest guide to lead you to your purpose. If you align with what your heart is telling you, and make decisions from that place, you are on your way. Don’t worry too much about what is possible or what others will think. Take it one step at a time without an agenda. What is one thing you can do today to answer the calling of your heart? Start there. Think of something you’d really like to do, even if you have no idea what your purpose is. It could be something small like reading a book to learn more about a topic you’re interested in. It could be big like taking a trip to a place you’ve always been drawn to. Taking a step in the direction where your heart is pointing will open more doors for you.
Your Purpose is Tied to your Challenges
Have you ever heard the expression that you’re best equipped to teach that which you most needed to learn? All of the challenges that you’re going through or that you’ve overcome are setting you up with strength and wisdom to help others. This is another way you may be guided to your purpose. Once you’ve overcome a difficulty, you may have a strong desire to help others do the same. Being of service and lifting others up is one of the most fulfilling things you can do. Ask yourself or your Angels how you can be of service, and you may find yourself inspired to take action!
Don’t Wait for the Big Picture to be Revealed
Your purpose and all the steps you need to take to get there are not revealed all at once. If you wait for everything to become clear, you’ll never take that first step. It’s often not until you take a step that the next can be revealed, because each step sets up new opportunities and circumstances. Take a step now, no matter how insignificant it may feel.
As an example, my career transition from the corporate world to the holistic wellness space began when I simply attended a couple classes that interested me. Those classes were Reiki and Spiritual Development. I had no intentions for this to be the start of a new career, but boy did it light a fire that is still burning within me. I’m ok with not knowing for sure where all this is heading. I’m enjoying the journey and I know I am living my purpose.
